Goldie Frances Johnson, age 102 and formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Community in Independence, MO.
Goldie was born on February 12, 1910 to James and Martha Ellen ‘Akers’ Foster in Cole, MO. She married Homer Caleb Johnson on April 17, 1928 in Richmond, MO. Goldie prided herself in being the best homemaker she could be. Goldie and Homer had a 'truck patch' and raised all kinds of produce. Every Saturday, they could be found, selling their goods on the downtown square at the farmer's market. She loved quilting, making over 400 quilts in her lifetime. Goldie also enjoyed gardening. She was a loner, who was a tad stubborn. Goldie was known for saying exactly what was on her mind. She never held back any punches. She told you what she thought. Goldie was also ½ Cherokee Indian and a member of the Northern Cherokee Nation. Surviving her is a daughter, Helen Frances Corum of Deepwater, MO; 8 grandchildren, Larry Corum (Karla) of Clinton, MO, Gary Corum (Angela) of Deepwater, MO, Debbie Foster (Stephen) of Independence, MO, Terry Johnson of Calhoun, MO, Sandy Gammit (Dave) of Clinton, MO, Jerry Johnson of Urich, MO, Jeannie Johnson, and Linda Hawkins; 20 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; 1 son, Carl Edwin Johnson; 3 brothers Luther, James and John Foster; and 1 half-sister, Daisy Miller. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. at the Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton, MO. A graveside service will be conducted at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M.
