Obituary for Richard Rick Miller

Richard A. (Rick) Miller passed away on January 12, 2018, at home, surrounded by is family, after a short battle with cancer. He was assisted in his final days by Heartland Hospice who did a great job making him comfortable.

Rick was born, December 2nd 1953 in Clinton MO to Tom J. and Lillian E. (Schill) Miller. He resided in Clinton his entire life. Rick was a local entrepreneur who either owned or co-owned several businesses in and around the Clinton area. He started Golden Valley Amusement in 1982. The business sold and serviced video games, juke boxes and other electronic entertainment devices to local establishments. he opened the Newsroom Bar and Grill in 1986. In 1997 he opened the Brite & Shiny car wash on Ohio Street. He was a hard working (and hard playing) man and was very proud of his businesses.

Rick had a passion for Classic cars. He was especially fond of Impala’s and restored several to them to their former glory. He passed on that love to his children, who all have a fondness for classic cars rather than anything new. He was an excellent mechanic, often doing his work for free, (just to help someone out.) He was a great father, and grand-father, a loyal friend and a wonderful man.

Rick is survived by six children. Nichole Johnson (Mike) of Simpsonville SC, Brandy Watson (Mike) of Odessa, MO, Richart Miller (Samantha) Clinton, Kerri Foreman (Adam) of Liberty, MO. Ericka Miller (Noah) of Grandview and Caitlyn Miller of Clinton, two sisters, Patricia Corum of Clinton and Kathy Hook (Garry) of Clinton; three brothers Frank Miller (Sally Wood) of Warrensburg, John Miller (Donna) of Decatur AR and George Miller of Ottawa KS. Eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and many, many, friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sue Ann Miller and a brother James Remer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday Jan 16th at Audie’s Place on Center St. from 6 – 8 pm. Please come by and share your favorite “Rick” story with his family and friends.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Scott, Linda and Vi from Heartland Hospice for making his transition a calm and peaceful event. Your work with our family was a true Godsend.
