Obituary for Raymond L Carter

Raymond L Carter, age 87, of Carl Junction, MO and formerly of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO.

Raymond was born July 8, 1930 to Robert S. Carter and Maggie ‘Witham’ Carter of Clinton, MO. After graduating from Clinton High School in 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 2 years as a radar operator. Ray married Charlotte Delozier on October 16, 1955 and to this union, three children, Cathy, Carin and Roger, were born. Ray worked as a salesman in the building supplies industry with Stewart-Nattinger. He served on Clinton City Council, Clinton School Board, was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Clinton First Baptist Church, Northeast Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit in 1962. To say Ray enjoyed sports is a gross understatement. As long as his health was good, he hardly missed going to his children’s sports and school events, and continued that tradition with all the grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Harden and husband Darrel, Carin Gosch and husband Bret, and a daughter-in-law, Sherri Carter; 7 grandchildren, Clint, Kylie, Cade, Krista, Cam, Caitlyn and Cole; 1 great-grandson, on the way; a niece, Rebecca Freeman; other family and many friends.

Preceding Ray in death were his parents; a brother, Robert Carter; and a son, Roger Paul Carter.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Consalus Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM with an inurnment following at Englewood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ray Carter Memorial for Education and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Condolences may be left on this website.
